Innovations Technology Access Centre (I-TAC)

The Innovations Technology Access Centre (I-TAC) accelerates business growth through flexible and easy access to world class facilities, expertise and support.

This award winning facility operates at both national science and innovations campuses at Sci-Tech Daresbury and Harwell Oxford. As part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), I-TAC acts as a gateway to STFC’s world leading research, innovation and skills.

Facilities: Enabling flexible access to high specification equipment and laboratory space alongside the world class science of STFC, ESA and CERN.

Expertise: Providing specialist multidisciplinary support from technical staff and extensive network of academic and industry experts

Support: Offering a unique open innovation environment and a dedicated business support network covering finance and intellectual property.

Advanced materials
Companies at I-TAC are leading the way in surface coating, wafer bonding, micro-fabrication, and many more innovative technologies. This is possible through flexible access to our clean rooms, wet chemistry laboratories and our advanced engineering capabilities.

Energy and environment
I-TAC’s cutting-edge materials science research and development facilities are helping companies to meet global energy challenges. Thanks to the services and expertise at I-TAC, businesses are taking the lead with new technologies in photovoltaics, hydrogen storage, and anaerobic digestion.

STFC has a strong track record in environmental research: from atmospheric monitoring, to molecular contaminant analysis and computational modelling. Through STFC I-TAC is enabling companies to provide solutions to challenges in waste destruction, agriculture, bio-sustainability and much more.

Biomedical
I-TAC’s fully equipped biology labs provide sophisticated analytical equipment and Class II containment facilities. Tenants are currently focusing on antimicrobials, medical diagnostics and healthcare technology.
