Halton Borough Council: Sci-Tech Daresbury’s local council
The promotion and development of science, technology and advanced manufacturing and the exploitation and application of new technologies are key objectives of Halton Borough Council.
Halton has an existing, internationally recognised, critical mass within the science and technology sector and the capacity, in terms of land, buildings and people, to build upon that to create a location for science and technology of global significance.
Sci-Tech Daresbury is key to that vision.
The campus has the global profile, existing facilities, expertise and ambition to place it firmly at the forefront of the borough council’s drive to promote the sector and thereby generate investment and create meaningful jobs, which will make a positive contribution to the prosperity of the community of Halton as a whole.
Council Leader, Cllr Rob Polhill, said: “We have developed an environment of culture and success here in Halton with Sci-Tech Daresbury at the centre of that.
Enterprise Zone status for the campus enabled us to build on this and take Sci-Tech to the next level by funding around £20m of investment, creating more than 1,000 jobs over the next five years and levering in £150m of private sector investment.
“The support of our two neighbouring Local Enterprise Partnerships is critical and clear recognition of the benefits to the wider economy that form the foundation of Sci-Tech Daresbury.”
