If cycling to campus is an option for you, it’s a great way of building exercise into your daily routine and we have a range of support available.

Cyclists are well-catered for at Sci-Tech Daresbury; whether you just need somewhere safe to leave your bike or you need full shower and changing facilities. We even have a regular bike mechanic on campus offering free basic repairs and advice.

Big Bike Revival Webinar

Cycling UK hosted a Getting in Gear webinar for employees at Sci-Tech Daresbury as part of the Big Bike Revival scheme. The webinar is aimed at anyone interested in starting to cycle to work, whether you’re an experienced leisure cyclist or haven’t picked up a bike in years!

You can view the webinar recording by clicking here.

Hopefully, you’ll get all the information you need to start your pedal-powered commute but if you need any further advice or information get in touch with us at travelhub@sci-techdaresbury.com.

Facilities on Campus

Our facilities and services for those wishing to cycle include:

  • High quality shower and changing facilities are provided at various locations across the campus.
  • Secure cycle storage is available to keep your bike safe and dry.
  • Emergency repair kits including a track pump, multi-tools and puncture repair kits are available from building receptions should you need them.
  • Dr Bike is on campus regularly throughout the year to give your bike a free health check.
  • Join our Bicycle User Group to meet like-minded colleagues interested in cycling and be the first to hear about offers and events.
  • In the past we have offered free bike maintenance courses and will continue to when we can.
  • Discounts at local bike shops (see below).
  • Cycle to Work schemes. If your employer offers this salary sacrifice scheme as a staff benefit you can save up to 39% on the cost of a new bike and pay for it monthly. If this isn’t available where you work yet, we can offer advice to help get a scheme set up. For an idea on how much you could save – see cyclescheme.co.uk

Cycle Journey Planning

To plan a journey by bike cyclestreets.net is a handy online tool giving you options to plan direct or ‘quieter’ routes. There are often photographs along suggested routes to confirm you are going the right way.

The local councils also provide their own cycling maps which are available from TravelHub information points in building receptions on campus and can be downloaded here:
